A moving story of an artist whose deeply traumatic descent into blindness starts her on an incredible journey of struggle and evolvement into an amazing new life.
We filmed Touching Colours in September, 2025 in East Sussex and the final edit was completed in early December, 2025. The editing was completed by the talented Andrew Marc of Andrew Marc Media in December. Here’s a link to his website. https://andrewmarc.media/
In late December, Touching Colours won the Best Drama Award in the New York Movie Awards. In February, 2026, it won Best Drama Award in the London Movie Awards and the Gold Award for the Best Indie Short Film in the Paris Film Awards.
The background to the film is fascinating as it is based on an amazing true story.
When Lucy, a talented young artist, becomes blind within three days, her world collapses and she struggles to find a reason to stay alive. How can she live without seeing the colours in nature or the faces of people she loves? Her boyfriend Karl becomes distraught as she withdraws from him completely. But amazingly, over time, she sees musical notes dancing as her brain starts to rewire itself in the most unusual way.
I was delighted when the multi-award-winning actress Leona Clarke came on board to play the main role as she loved the emotional power of the story.
The actor Felix Johnson plays Lucy’s boyfriend Karl who is determined to keep her alive. He graduated from the New York Conservatory in Dramatic Arts.
